Andes van der Horst Alvarez

With extensive business acumen, this Secretary of State was honored by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader. Founder and Director of the National Competitiveness Council since 2002 and member of the USDR Free Trade Agreement DR-CAFTA negotiating team, he represents the DR’s efforts to sharpen its competitive edge, having coordinated several of the country’s annual development plans.

An expert on tourism and hotel management, he is the VP of Operations in the DR & Cuba of Occidental Hotels and the General Manager of Embajador Hotel in Santo Domingo.
